What are the requirements to join the Ladue chapter of NHS?

Students must have a 3.8 or higher cumulative gpa, volunteer experience within the last 3 years, and involvement within the Ladue community. Students must submit their application by the deadline (usually before spring break). Additionally, students who are not in good standing with administration, have shown a pattern of academic dishonesty, or have poor character ratings from faculty will likely not be accepted into the National Honor Society.

If a student is not accepted during their sophomore year, they can reapply their junior year.

The majority of the students whose applications are not accepted do not have adequate volunteer experience.

We do not have a set number of students allowed into NHS. The faculty council accepts any student they feel has demonstrated the four pillars of NHS in their application: service, leadership, character, and scholarship.

What kind of volunteering should I put on my application?

We are looking for 10 or more hours of volunteering with legitimate organizations within the past couple of years from our applicants. We like to see volunteer service rather than gifting clothing or materials to local causes. Students can certainly list any volunteer work done with their church. If a student is involved in Scouts or National Charity League, that would certainly be worth mentioning.

Here is a list of approved organizations our students often volunteer at.
